When we go to USA, tipping is one of the major cultural differences. We always ask how much should we tip? What is the percentage? Here is a simple guide of tipping in USA.
Valet: When the car is returned to you, around US$1-5
Taxi, limos: Generally around 15% of the total fare
Bell staff: US$1-2 per bag. Up to US$5, if your bags are heavy
Cleaning Staff: US$2-5 per night, you can leave it on the table or under the pillow with a note writing ‘housekeeping’
Room Service: at least US$5, or 10-15% of your total bill
When you are going into a restaurant, you should always tip. Normally, it is around 15-25% of your total bill. Some restaurants may add mandatory gratuity to your total bill especially for large groups of people.
Bar tenders do expect you to tip for their services. Leave around US$1-2 per drink at the counter.
