You know that feeling. You are tired and unable to concentrate. And yes, that is jetlag. You do not want jetlag to affect your vacation. So, here are some tips for you to beat jetlag.
Before you get on flight
Trick Your Body Clock
Adjust to the local time before you get on the flight, try to shift your sleeping schedule ahead or behind by a few hours, depending on where you will be going.
Skip the in-flight meal
Our bodies know the time of the day in relation to the meals we eat. Therefore, if you hold off on the food until the next local mealtime, your body will be able to adjust to the local time quicker. However, if your flight time is long, you still need food, try to adjust to the local time and grab a quick snack instead of a big meal, unless it is time for a big meal at the local time of your destination.
The air on plane is very treated and drying, therefore, it is very important that you drink so much water. Some theories suggest that many symptoms of jetlag are signs of dehydration.
Sleep and Wake at Local Time
Adjust your watch to local time and sleep and wake according to that. If you cannot fall asleep, you can try to put on an eye mask and earplugs to help you tune out the noise and hopefully get some rest.
Arrive the Destination
Do Not Nap!
If you arrive in the morning or afternoon, do not nap when you walk into the hotel room. Be Strong! Or else, you will be sleeping at Hong Kong time, instead of the time at the destination.
To keep you awake, go outside, instead of staying in the hotel room. Get some fresh air and do something that you will enjoy.
